We moved into our (almost) dream house in 2020. Everything about it was perfect, other than the fact that it was missing the number one thing that we said would be non-negotiable when choosing a house, which was an awesome backyard set up with a pool and outdoor kitchen where we could hang out and entertain our friends and family.

We knew it would be a BIG job and we wanted to make sure that we picked the right people to help make our dream house complete. We spoke with several different companies, and ultimately chose to work with Mike Hillman at Hillman Outdoor Living. We definitely made the right choice!! What we liked most is that from day one, he was straightforward, transparent, true to his word, attentive, knowledgeable, and he had a talent for creative design. During the building process, it was obvious that Mike and his crew took pride in their work and were committed to delivering on the finished product! I can honestly say that we spend more time on our back patio than anywhere else in our home and we wouldn’t change a single thing about it. It is everything we envisioned and more! The specific things that we wanted was; a grotto, a large space to entertain under a covered patio, space for my husband’s treager, and a deep pool. It wasn’t an easy task, but any time we were thrown a curveball (hail storm in 2021, pre-existing foundation issues that had to be addressed mid-build, pandemic-related product shortages etc), Mike and his team managed it all with good grace and dedication to our project.

Surpassed my expectations by going the extra mile to make me happy. I asked them to save the stone from the wall that was being replaced, and they not only saved them, but chipped off the old mortar and stacked them for me. I noticed that a part of one wall was being laid not exactly as I wanted it, and they removed the stones and re-did it with no complaints, grunts, or other signs of dissatisfaction. They cleaned up well after they were done (better than I thought they could) and repaired any damage that was caused to my yard during construction. They even came back after they were paid to fix something that was missed, and that is very unusual. I couldn’t be happier with the service I got.

Dustin Hillman was my contractor. I had my patio completely remodeled from floor to ceiling, as well as a gravel foundation built for a mail-order greenhouse, which I needed to have assembled as well. From the first visit where I communicated my ideas to the last visit where he put the finishing touches on the patio, he worked with me and my schedule every step of the way. The only hitch was a misunderstanding on my part about his plan for the greenhouse foundation, and when I was not satisfied with how it was turning out, he cheerfully returned and COMPLETELY redid it to my exact specifications.
